Policies & Procedures

Players

Our tournaments are open to all professionals; men and women, as well as amateurs with an official handicap of 4 or less. No handicap allowance will be given to amateurs.

All members give their consent to the use of their name, photograph, image and likeness by the West Florida Golf Tour. This also applies to daily play non-members. The WFGT may use these items in promotional material, both online and in print and will keep a supply of stock photography for future projects.

Divisions

Open Division

The Open Division is our main division and is open to any Professional, Amateur or Woman who wishes to play for the main purse money while all competing from the same tees (must pay full entry fee).

Open Division Guarantees

  1. The West Florida Golf Tour will only take up to a maximum amount of $20 a day from every entry fee to cover administrative costs.
  2. We pay 33% of the field.
  3. Last place check will always earn their money back (excluding ties).

Amateur Division

The Amateur Division is open to any male or female amateur that wishes to play in any non Pro-Am event. Amateurs will pay half the entry fee that a professional will pay and will only be able to win a maximum of $750 in the form of tour credit or pro shop gift vouchers. Since amateurs are paying half the entry fee, they are only eligible for half of their winnings. The other half will be split and distributed evenly throughout the purse.

Amateur Division Guarantees

  1. An amateur leaderboard will also be located on our live scoring page.
  2. The USGA only allows a maximum of $750 to be won by an amateur.
  3. If there is a waiting list for an event, professionals will take priority and the last amateur registered will have to forfeit his spot (or opt to pay the professional entry fee to keep his spot).

For ALL events amateurs will NOT have their own division and will compete against the professionals. They can win up to a maximum of $750 in the form of tour credit or pro shop gift voucher.

* Amateurs under the USGA category of awaiting reinstatement will be allowed to compete in any event, but will NOT be eligible for any prizes.

Prize Money

EVERY FRIDAY THE TOUR WILL SEND OUT PLAYERS CHECKS. If a player is registered for the next event on our schedule by that Friday, their check will be held and given to them at registration. (Players can always pick up their checks throughout the week at the Tour's office so long as they make arrangements to do so).

If a foreign national does not have a social security or tax ID number they will be subject to a 30% withholding tax. They will also need to complete a W-8 BEN form.

U.S. Nationals will be required to complete a W-9 form. A 1099-misc will be mailed to competitor at the end of the year if he or she has won more than $600.

Starting Times

Players starting times will be available at 5pm the night before the tournament. They will be emailed to you or you can check the website under “Starting Times.” They are done at random with the players’ location in mind. The Tour will be happy to accept starting time requests for players wishing to travel together.

Registration on the Day

Players MUST present themselves at the registration desk as soon as they arrive at the tournament venue. A player must register before going to the driving range, putting green or the 1st tee even if they have prepaid for the event.

Each player MUST be present and ready to play at least 10 minutes prior to his or her starting time. Getting to the tee late disrupts the whole tournament and your playing partners. Please observe this request.

Payment

  1. Players may pay with cash
  2. Players may pay using a credit/debit card
  3. Players may pay with a check

Any returned check will result in a $10 service fee and loss of check writing privileges in certain cases.

Late Withdrawal and No Show Policy

The West Florida Golf Tour requires at least 24 hours notice from the player if he/she decides they need to withdraw from an event they are already registered for. Please email us at admin@westfloridagolftour.com or call Christian at (215)630-3644 to withdraw.

Any player that doesn't give 24 hours notice or no shows, will be charged:

$25 on their next entry fee for a one day withdrawal/no show.
$50 on their next entry fee for a multi day or Pro Am withdrawal/no show.

Remember, a player can withdraw for any reason prior to the 24 hour deadline without penalty.

As we continue to be as player friendly of a tour as possible, we feel that this will only benefit our players by ensuring the purses and fields are not affected. We have had wait lists for some events and you can imagine a waiting player’s frustration at seeing we had a late withdraw or no show. PLAYERS NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR LATE WITHDRAWS OR NO SHOWS!!!

We know this will not affect the vast majority of you, but we hope you understand the reasoning behind this action.

Conduct

Any conduct unbecoming of a professional golfer will not be tolerated and the player may lose playing privileges with the Tour as well as being liable to disqualification from that event. Players are reminded to treat the employees of the host club with the up most respect. All West Florida Golf Tour players are expected to repair ball marks along with divots (where appropriate) and rake all bunkers. All cell phones must be in the silent position during play and be used only for live scoring purposes or to contact tournament officials for a ruling. All consumption by competitors of alcoholic beverages is prohibited during the round.

Alcohol & Illegal Drugs

Any player who drinks alcohol or uses any illegal drugs during an official tournament round will be disqualified from the tournament.

Dress Code

All shirts must be collared and no denim is allowed. All shoes must be soft spikes. At certain event players may be required to remove their hat when entering the clubhouse, please be mindful of club rules.

Measuring Devices

Range finders will be permitted on the West Florida Golf Tour, however they cannot measure anything other than true yardage (no slope wind etc). Sky Caddies are permitted.

Hole Location Sheets

Hole Location sheets will be provided and will be available on the 1st tee.

Playoff

If two or more competitors are tied after the event has been complete, the winner will be decided in a sudden death playoff to be completed immediately after the last group completes their round. If a playoff participant isn’t present immediately following completion of play, the Tour will allow for a 15-minute grace period for that player to present himself on the playoff hole. After that, he or she will forfeit.

Rules

United States Golf Association current rules govern play with the addition of local rules where applicable.

Rule 3-3. The West Florida Golf Tour strongly urges its players to play two golf balls if they are unsure about a ruling or are uncertain of how to proceed in a specific event if a rules official is not present. Please inform the committee following your round, so that they can make the proper ruling.

Weather

A player has the right to suspend play if he/she feels threatened by dangerous lightning conditions without penalty. If West Florida Golf Tour or host club should indicate suspension of play all players should mark their balls, cease playing immediately and seek shelter. The West Florida Golf Tour will and always will have the safety of its competitors in mind first and foremost.

THE WEST FLORIDA GOLF TOUR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURY THAT MAY OCCUR REGARDING THE WEATHER. ALL PARTICIPANTS PLAY AT THEIR OWN RISK AND HAVE THE RIGHT TO SUSPEND PLAY AT ANYTIME IF THEY FEEL IN DANGER.

Official Event

An 18 hole tournament is considered complete if the entire field has completed at least nine holes of play. It will then switch from nine hole increments to three hole increments for the back nine. For example:

11 holes completed by final group upon suspension of play = 9 hole event
13 holes completed = 12 hole event
17 holes completed = 15 hole event

For multiday events to become official at least 50% of the holes have to be completed by the final group. Then the nine and three hole principle will become applicable for that days play.

If a tournament is washed out for the day before the final group completes 50% of the holes, then the players’ entry fee shall be refunded in full ONLY if the WFGT obtains a refund. If not, then the prize money will be split evenly amongst the field with the WFGT taking no administration fee.

Summer Tour/ Majors (Events with a CUT)

In the event that the field size does not reach 30 players for an event that has a cut, participants will play all 3 days and there will be NO CUT for the event. In this case, the Tour will simply pay 33% of the field after the 3 days. If the event has more than 30 participants, we will CUT to 33% of the field and only those players will play the final day.

Spectators

Spectators MUST adhere to ALL club rules regarding dress code and conduct. They will be allowed to purchase a spectator cart to ride along IF they are available. In this case, the Tour requires that all spectator carts remain on the paths. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Pace of Play

The following conditions and policies shall govern regulation of the pace of play by the West Florida Golf Tour Rules Committee. In order to prevent any such penalty we strongly suggest you read the following guidelines:

Rule 6-7 states:"The player must play without undue delay and in accordance with any pace of play guidelines that the Committee may establish. Between completion of a hole and playing from the next teeing ground, the player should not unduly delay play."

If a group is, "out of position", a WFGT Official will begin to monitor them notifying them that the group is "out of position", and they are subject to individual timing. The group in question will have one hole to regain their correct position on the golf course before individual timing of the players in the group begins.

Any players in a group which is "out of position" who takes more than 40 seconds to play a stroke when it is his turn to play is subject to penalty under Rule 6-7, Undue Delay; Slow Play as follows:

  1. One bad time of more than 40 seconds – Warning.
  2. A second bad time of more than 40 seconds – 1 Stroke Penalty.
  3. A third bad time of more than 40 seconds – Disqualification.
